​Shaka Soul Surfers is a transformative program that harnesses the healing and empowering nature of surfing to uplift individuals with special needs and build belonging in the youth community.

Every Saturday, we offer one-on-one hour-long lessons tailored to each participant's needs and abilities.

Your Shaka Journey

1. Sign Up & Connect

Register for Your First Lesson

Fill out our simple online form and tell us a bit about your surfer’s needs. We’ll make sure your child is paired with the right board, the ideal instructor, and the perfect number of volunteers to ensure a safe and supportive surf experience.

2. What to Expect on Surf Day

Everything you need to know for a smooth, supportive, and fun experience

On the day of your session, we’ll walk you through everything! Once you arrive, we’ll go over what to expect, learn what you’re hoping to get out of the experience, and answer any questions. You’ll fill out a quick bit of paperwork and let us know about your surfer’s needs—so we can make sure they’re supported with the right instructor, board, and number of volunteers. We’re here to help make it an awesome day on the water!

3. Catch Your First Wave


​One‑on‑One Surf Session
​
Spend a full hour in the water with your dedicated, accommodating instructor and volunteer buddy by your side. Our team is trained to support a wide range of needs—whether that means using visual cues, providing physical assistance, or simply moving at your surfer’s pace. We’ll be cheering them on every step of the way as they paddle out, catch waves, and build confidence with every ride.

4. Celebrate & Belong


Post‑Surf Community Circle

After your lesson, you're welcome to stay and enjoy the beach atmosphere with our volunteers and community. We understand that every family has different needs, and our team is here to support you. Whether you need assistance getting your child to the car, help with rinsing off, or simply a calm space to wind down—we’re here to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Please don’t hesitate to ask.
